Painting Installation – 2014 – parts of the projects were exhibited in 2022 at the Historic Museum of Montreux.
The project explores different states of perception inspired by the transient nature of water. In the image is a painting which connects with the Roman Milliaire column (an ancient artifact from Museum Montreux), and is accompanied by a video projection. For this project I used an experimental technique, and I tried to transpose the plastic effect of condensed water mixed with special natural color pigments, restoring the texture of the earth.
This milestone was found in Chaulin sur Montreux attached to a fountain. In Roman times, mile columns marked the distances on the main roads. They often indicated the name of an emperor, his titles, as well as the distance in miles to the next capital. A Roman mile was equivalent to a thousand steps, that is to say thousand double strides, or approximately 1482 meters.
This work is mostly about absence, generational trauma, and the impermanence of what we carry.
